Liberty Bell Plaza -- 1976
During the U.S. Bicentennial, then-President Gerald R. Ford came to Walnut Creek to dedicate a replica of the Liberty Bell as a war memorial. The bell was donated by the local chapter of Soroptimist International. President Ford is the only sitting U.S. President to have made an official visit to Walnut Creek. Liberty Bell Plaza was built later and covers the confluence of the creeks that form Walnut Creekâs namesake creek: Las Trampas and San Ramon creeks.
